A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND INSTRUCTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO TAKE THE ACTIONS NECESSARY TO
ACQUIRE CERTAIN PROPERTY NEEDED BY THE CITY
OF MIAMI FOR THE DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER.
WHEREAS, through a cooperative effort among Federal, State, County
and local governments a plan has been adopted to create a Government
Center in the Miami downtown area; and
WHEREAS, certain property in the planned center has been designated
for the needed construction of certain City of Miami government operations
including police facilities; and
WHEREAS, due to the public need it is desirable that immediate action
be taken to acquire the lands necessary for the planned Cityof Miami
government facilities; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the proper City accounts for the
acquisition of these properties;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and instructed
to take the actions necessary to acquire all of the privately owned lands in
Blocks 75 North and 88 North as shown on the A. L. Knowlton map of Miami
as recorded in Plat Book B at page 41 of the Public Records of Dade County,
Florida, needed by the City of Miami as part of the Downtown Government
Center site.
