A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO APPOINT AN APPRAISER AND TO RECEIVE AN
APPRAISAL FOR THE CITY'S FERN ISLE NURSERY
PROPERTY TO THE SOUTH OF THE EAST -WEST
EXPRESSWAY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH MR. PERELIS FOR
THE EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY TO PROVIDE FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTH FORK PARK, AS FURTHER
PROVIDED IN THE PARKS AND RECREATIONAL BOND
PROGRAM OF 1972; FURTHER PROVIDING THAT THE
RESULTS OF SUCH NEGOTIATIONS BE SUBMITTED TO
THE CITY COMMISSION FOR APPROVAL AND RATIFI-
CATION.
WHEREAS, the electorate of the City of Miami has voted
successfully on a Parks and Recreational Bond Program; and
WHEREAS, such program provides for the acquisition and
development of the South Fork Park property; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the property thereby acquiring
is being offered in exchange for City property identified as a portion
of the Fern Isle Nursery lying to the south of the East-West Expressway;
and
WHEREAS, such exchange of properties is to be based on fair
appraisal costs of each parcel; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to exchange
such properties;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager be, and is hereby, authorized
to appoint an appraiser and to receive appraisal on the City's Fern Isle
Nursery property to the south of the East-West Expressway.
Section 2. That the City Manager be, and is hereby, authorized
to negotiate with Mr. Perelis for the exchange of property to provide for
the development of South Fork Park, as further provided in the Parks
and Recreational Bond Program of 1972.
Section 3. That the results of such negotiations be submitted to
the City Commission for approval and ratification.
