RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF
FINANCE TO PAY TO OSCAR WEST, JR. THE SUM
OF $2,500.00 PLUS TAXABLE COSTS, IN FULL
AND COMPLETE SATISFACTION OF A JUDGMENT
ENTERED IN THE CIRCUIT COURT, IN AND FOR
DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN FAVOR OF OSCAR
WEST, JR. AND AGAINST THE CITY OF MIAMI
AND TWO CITY POLICE OFFICERS.
WHEREAS, the Plaintiff, OSCAR WEST, JR., filed an
action against the City of Miami and two City police officers
for false arrest, excessive use of force in effecting this
arrest, and injuries sustained thereby, on June 29, 1971; and
WHEREAS, trial was had in the Circuit Court and a verdict
was rendered by the Jury against the City of Miami and the two
police officers and in favor of the Plaintiff in the sum of
$2,500.00; and
WHEREAS, costs have not been taxed to date; and
WHEREAS, it is advantageous for the City of Miami to pay
this sum to effect a savings and to avoid the running of in-
terests;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Director of Finance be and he is
hereby directed to pay to Oscar West, Jr. the sum of $2,500.00
plus taxable costs, in full and complete satisfaction of a
judgment entered in the Circuit Court, in and for Dade County,
Florida, in favor of Oscar West, Jr. and against the City of
