A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVISE METROPOLITAN
DADE COUNTY THAT THE CITY OF MIAMI DESIRES
THAT THE COUNTY IMMEDIATELY ASSUME THE
RESPONSIBILITY UNDER ITS COUNTYWIDE ABAN-
DONED AND DERELICT VEHICLE DISPOSAL PROGRAM
TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF VEHICLES ABANDONED
ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND PUBLIC PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI; APPOINTING AND DESIGNATING THE
DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI AS ENFORCEMENT OFFICER;
AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO CAUSE TO BE
MAILED TO THE COUNTY MANAGER AND BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CERTIFIED COPIES OF
THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County is collecting funds
at the time of automobile inspection to provide for the
countywide removal and disposal of abandoned and derelict
vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County has implemented a
countywide Abandoned and Derelict Vehicle Disposal Program
as authorized by State Legislation (Section 705.16 of
Chapter 705, Florida Statutes); and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County has indicated a
willingness to include the City of Miami in its countywide
Abandoned and Derelict Vehicle Disposal Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLOR IDA :
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to take prompt action in advising Metropolitan Dade

County that the City of Miami desires that Metropolitan
Dade County immediately assume the responsibility under
its countywide Abandoned and Derelict Vehicle Disposal
Program to remove and dispose of vehicles abandoned on
private and public property within the corporate limits
of the City of Miami.
Section 2. As required by Chapter 705, Florida
Statutes (Section 705.16) the Director of the City of
Miami Sanitation Department is hereby appointed and
designated as Enforcement Officer with authority as
granted by Section 20-25 of Chapter 20, Code of the City
of Miami, to institute removal procedures, as may be re-
quired, on private property and puOlic property within
the corporate limits of the City of hi i .i .
Section 3. In the implementation, administration,
and enforcement of the program hereinabove described, the
Enforcement Officer shall be guided by the provisions of
Section 705.16 of Chapter 705, Florida Statutes, Section
20-25 of Chapter 20 of the Code of the City of Miami, and
such Metropolitan Dade County rules, regulations and pro-
cedures as may be established.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
cause to be mailed to the County Manager and Board of
County Commissioners a certified copy of this resolution.
