The marker says the cem- etery became the final resting place of many Black residents, many of whom worked in the ar- c's farming fields, groves and packing houses. The cemetew came under the care of Manatee County in1988, according to the marker. Manatee officials say they are now working to repair the damaged grave - sites. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission this year ended a five-year ban on oyster harvesting in some parts of Northwest Flor- ida's Apalachicola Bay.
