BACKGROUND
Sunshine For All, Inc., a Florida not -for -profit corporation ("Sunshine For All"), is an organization whose
primary mission is to serve the needs of Miami -Dade County's vulnerable residents through the delivery
and coordination of social services to low-income and at -risk residents of the City of Miami. (Sunbiz.org,
attached as Exhibit A).
Sunshine For All has submitted a grant application to implement two complementary senior support
programs: the "Senior Grocery Transportation Program" and the "Senior Excursion Program", collectively
known as the District 3 Active Senior Program. The program is designed to serve low- and moderate -
income adults aged fifty-five (55) and older residing in twenty-seven (27) government -subsidized senior
housing facilities within District 3. The program will provide no -cost, ADA-accessible transportation services
that support access to essential nutrition resources and planned social, recreational, and educational
activities (the "Project"). (MFE Application, attached as Exhibit B).
The District 3 Active Senior Program is anticipated to operate over a twelve-month grant period, during
which Sunshine For All will provide monthly grocery transportation services to each of the twenty-seven
(27) participating senior housing facilities and conduct one (1) organized senior excursion per month.
Expected outcomes include improved access to nutritious food, increased mobility and independence,
reduced food insecurity, enhanced social engagement, decreased social isolation, and measurable
improvements in participant well-being and overall quality of life.
Sunshine For All has requested MFE funds in the amount of One Hundred Fifteen Thousand Seven
Hundred Twenty -Eight and 00/100 Dollars ($115,728.00) for a twelve-month period. The District
Commissioner has requested an allocation of One Hundred Twenty -Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars
($125,000.00) per year for two years, for a total of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and 00/100 Dollars
($250,000.00).
Further, Commission authorization is requested to allow for a limited initial advance payment not to exceed
the equivalent of two (2) months of program operating expenses, with remaining disbursements reimbursed
upon approval of eligible expenditures.
RECOMMENDATION
The City's District 3 Commissioner has reviewed the MFE Application and wishes to provide grant funds in
an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($250,000.00) to Sunshine For
All, Inc., on a primarily reimbursement basis.

or advantageous to the City pursuant to Section 18-85(a) of the City Code of Ordinances.
