A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
CONTAINED IN THE CITY MANAGER'S JANUARY 20,
1972 MEMORANDUM RELATING TO THE PROPOSED
$245,000 ORANGE BOWL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
FOR 1972; APPROPRIATING $100,000 FROM THE
ORANGE BOWL FUND APPROPRIATIONS FOR SAID
IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $135,000 FROM
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT UNALLOCATED FUNDS FOR
SAID IMPROVEMENTS; ESTABLISHING POLICY OF.
THE CITY COMMISSION THAT NO EVENTS BE
SCHEDULED IN THE ORANGE BOWL UNTIL SUCH
TIME AS THESE IMPROVEMENTS ARE COMPLETED
PRIOR TO THE 1972 FOOTBALL SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Orange Bowl needs certain structural adjustments
and certain maintenance which work must be accomplished prior to
the beginning of the 1972 football season, and
WHEREAS, the 'proposed improvements and maintenance can be
accomplished only during that period of time when no football events
are scheduled in the Orange Bowl; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is principally concerned with pro-
viding the improvements and maintenance so that the Orange Bowl
may serve its primary purpose; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City
of Miami to have all necessary work completed as soon as possiW e;
' WHEREAS, monies to cover the cost of this work are available
from three sources: Reserve for Improvements - Orange Bowl, the
Orange Bowl Fund, and the Capital Improvement Fund - Unallocated Funds
account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager's recommendations contained in
his January.20, 1972, memorandum relating to the proposed $245,000
Orange Bowl Improvement Program for 1972 be and the same are hereby
adopted.

Section 2. That the amount of $100,000 be and it is hereby
appropriated from the Orange Bowl Fund balance, and that the amount
of $135,000 be and it is hereby allocated from the Capital Improve-
ment Fungi - Unallocated Funds account.
Section 3. That a City Commission policy of scheduling no
events in the Orange Bowl until such time as the City Manager's
recommended work is completed be, and the same is hereby, established
and adopted.
Section 4. That all affected officials of the City of Miami
be, and they are hereby, directed to take all necessary steps to
accomplish the improvements and maintenance prior to the beginning
of the 1972 football season.
