HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-73-102612/20/73 73 RESOLUTION NO. /d 2 Co A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ASSISTANCE FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA IN PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OR CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN LANDS DESIGNATED HEREIN FOR PARK PURPOSES; DESIGNATING A PERIOD OF FORTY- FIVE (45) DAYS TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT ADDITIONAL FUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE DUE TO THE URGENCY OF THE SITUATION; AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SEND A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND TO THE CABINET MEMBERS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the people of the City of Miami approved the Parks For People Bond Issue; and t WHEREAS, the City of Miami is empowered to acquire in fee simple by condemnation or otherwise, property, real or personal, or any estate or interest therein for any of the purposes of the City; and WHEREAS, the following described property has been found, after due consideration to be necessary and for public purpose to provide for park and recreational facilities: Tract D, DuPont Plaza as recorded in Plat Book 50 at Page 11 of the Public Records of Dade County, Florida (also known as Ball Point Park); and WHEREAS, the City Commission has allocated the sum of Seven and one-half million ($7,500,000) Dollars for the acquisition of the above described property; which sum may be insufficient for the acquisition of said property; and WHEREAS, it appears that said property may increase in cost to the City of Miami with the passage of time; and "DOCUMENT INDEX ITEM NO.. -3ti' CITY COMMISSION MF. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Miami hereby requests assistance from the State of Florida in providing funds for the acquisition of Tract D, DuPont Plaza as recorded in Plat Book 50 at Page 11 of the Public Records of Dade County, Florida, (also known as Ball Point Park). for park and recreational purposes. Section 2. That a time period of forty-five (45) days be allowed to determine whether or not additional funds will be available for the acquisition of Tract D, DuPont Plaza`as recorded in Plat Book 50 at Page 11 of the Public Records of Dade County, Florida (also known as Ball Point Park). Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of thin Resolution to the Governor of the State of Florida and each•member of the Florida Cabinet.
