A RESOLUTION OFFERING COOPERATION
TO ASSIST THE METRO TRANSIT AUTHORITY
IN UPGRADING VARIOUS BUS STOPS WITHIN
THE CITY OF MIAMI AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREE-
MENT WHEREIN THE CITY OF MIAMI WLL
FURNISH THE NECESSARY LABOR AND EQUIP-
MENT I' THE METRO TRANSIT AUTHORITY WILL
FURNISH THE NECESSARY MATERIALS.
WHEREAS, there are a number of bus stops on major
thoroughfares within the City of Miami which present difficult or undesirable
conditions for individuals boarding or alighting from buses; and
WHEREAS, there are also a number of bus stops on major
thoroughfares in the City of Miami where buses halting for passengers ?resent
an impediment to the free flow of traffic; and
WHEREAS, the aforementionec conditions could be remecL ed
by the placement of sidewalk or paved areas for passengers boarding or alight-
ing from buses; and
WHEREAS, providing bus pull-out bays at strategic locations
to enhance flow of traffic could logically be accomplished to the joint benefit of
and as a cooperative project of the Metro Transit Authority and the City of
Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE COM-
MISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City of Miami. does hereby offer to enter
into a joint cooperative project with the Metro Transit Authority to construct
concrete sidewalk and/or paved areas for the convenience of bus passengers,
and/or bus pull-out bays at various bus stops within the City of Miami.
Section 2. That the City Manager be and is hereby authorizes:
to provide labor and equipment and enter into an agreement with the Metro Transit
Authority to construct as a joint cooperative project the necessary improvements
as set forth under Section I, where -in the City will furnish the necessary labor
ana equipment and the Metro Transit Authority will furni the necessary materials.
