HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-73-0967RESOLUTION NO, j�` A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO CONTRACTS FOR USE OF THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM FOR OTHER THAN ATHLETIC EVENTS PROVIDING SPECIFIC CONDITIONS ARE ADHERED TO WHEREAS, on November 8, 1973, the City Commission requested that the City Manager give consideration to use of the Orange Bowl for other than football and soccer events; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reviewed the applicable rules, regulations and ordinances pertaining to the Orange Bowl Stadium; and WHEREAS, it is the conclusion of the City Manager that the Orange Bowl Stadium can be utilized for other than athletic events; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended specific pro- cedures to be followed when utilizing the Orange Bowl for other than athletic events. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to contract for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium for other than athletic events providing that the following conditions are adhered to: 1. Patrons, entertainers or performers are prohibited from utilizing the playing field. 2. Scheduling of the Orange Bowl Stadium wilt not interfere with the improvements, alter- ations, adjustments or modifications to the Orange Bowl facility. 4. A minimum performance bond in the amount of $10, 000 will be required for each privately sponsored event. 5. The City Manager will determine the amount of liability insurance required for each individual event. 6. Each non athletic event will be charged at the rate of $25, 000 per event or 15% of the gross receipts, whichever is greater. 7.
