A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO NEGOTIATE FOR AN EXTENSION OF THE WATSON
ISLAND DEVELOPMENT STUDY AGREEMENT TO

ING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH
METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY FOR THE FUNDING
OF THE AGREEMENT FOR THE PROPOSED PLAN

WHEREAS, Metropolitan -Dade County has expressed a desire to
develop a facility on the City owned Watson Island known as a museum -library;
and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County has indicated a desire to enter
into an agreement with the City of Miami to provide for funds necessary for

the construction of a on Watson Island; and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County has agreed to provide the funds
necessary to conduct a study as to the feasibility of the creation of a museum -
library; and
WHEREAS, City of Miami Resolution 72-653 authorized the City Manager
to negotiate with Edward D. Stone, Jr., and Associates for the purpose of
conducting a study for the development of Watson Island; and
WHEREAS, on March 2, 1973, the City of Miami entered into an
agreement with Edward D. Stone, Jr., and Associates for the conduction of a
study for theproposed development of Watson Island and that agreement pro-
vides for amendment by mutual agreement of both the City of Miami and
Edward D. Stone, Jr., and Associates.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to negotiate for
an extension of the Watson Island Development Study Agreement to include
the appropriateness of including a t- --wry Ott Watson Island.
Section 2. That any formalization of the extension of agreement
with Edward D. Stone, Jr. , and Associates is subject to funding by
Metropolitan Dade County.
Section 3. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to
negotiate with Metropolitan Dade County for the funding of an extension
of the agreement for the proposed plan for the development of Watson
