A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE POLICY AND INTENT OF THE CITY
COMMISSION THAT THE VIRGINIA KEY TREATMENT PLANT MODERNIZATION
BE DEVELOPED SO AS TO ELIMINATE THE NEED OF SLUDGE DRYING
BEDS; FURTHER THAT THE VIRGINIA KEY TREATMENT PLANT BE
OPERATED AND EXPANDED S0 THAT NO PROVISION IS MADE TO
ACCOMMODATE SEWAGE SLUDGE FROM ANOTHER TREATMENT PLANT AND
THAT THE SLUDGE GENERATED AT THE VIRGINIA KEY TREATMENT
PLANT ITSELF BE THE ONLY SLUDGE TREATED WITHIN THE CITY OF
MIAMI.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That it be the policy and intent of the City Commission
that the Virginia Key treatment plant modernization be developed so as to
eliminate the need of sludge drying beds.
Section 2. That the Virginia Key treatment plant be operated
and expanded so that no provision is made to accommodate sewage sludge
from another treatment plant.
Section 3. That the sludge generated at the Virginia Key treatment
plant itself be the only sludge treated within the City of Miami.
