A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO
A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI
AND THE EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATION DESIGNATED AS
THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND
MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
TERMS AND PROVISIONS AS CONTAINED IN THE COPY
OF SAID AGREEMENT ATTACHED HERETO, FOR THE
TERM OF ONE (1) YEAR COMMENCING EFFECTIVE
OCTOBER 1, 1972 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1973;
FURTHER PROVIDING FOR THE INCORPORATION WITHIN
SAID AGREEMENT OF THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS:
THE AMOUNT AND NATURE OF COMPENSATION BENEFITS
FOR OVERTIME; THE DEGREE OF RECOGNITION GIVEN
A REQUESTED DUES CHECK -OFF; AND THE CONTENT
OF A CLAUSE CONCERNING CURRENT PREVAILING
BENEFITS ENJOYED BY MEMBERS OF SAID ORGANI-
ZATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager and City Clerk are hereby
authorized and directed to enter into a contract between the City
of Miami and the employee organization designated as The American
Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, in accord-
ance with the teA:ms and provisions as contained in the copy
of said agreement attached hereto, for the term of one (1)
year commencing effective October 1, 1972 through September 30,
1973.
Section 2. The herein agreement shall have three (3)
additional sections incorporated within said agreement upon
the City Commission's further direction and instruction regarding
the following subjects: the amount and nature of compensation
benefits for overtime; the degree'of recognition given a requested
dues check -off; and the content of a clause concerning current
prevailing benefits enjoyed by members of said organization.

Hereafter, on or before April lst oz each calendar year, either party may
notify the other in writing of its intention to renegotiate the agreement then in
force. Initial discussions shall therea.fter and no later than May 1 be entered
into between. the City anci the -Union for renegotiations of provisions or additions
or deletions to the agreement then in force; said changes anticateci to
take effect on October 1st of that calendar year. Both parties shall present
their economic proposals as early as possible.
