HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-73-0562RESOLUTION NO. 7660 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROCEED WITH THE DEMOLITION OF THE TWO-STORY CBS STRUCTURE LOCATED AT 3812 N. W. 17TH AVENUE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE JUNE 28, 1973 REQUEST OF J. H. MATTESON, SUPERVISOR, SITE PLAN- NING FOR DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ATTACHED AND MADE A PART HEREOF AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH BEN HURWITZ, INCORPORATED, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2, 800 TO ACCOMPLISH SAID DEMOLITION. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: WHEREAS, Lindsley Lumber Company had occupied a two-story CBS building located at 3812 N. W. 17th Avenue, and WHEREAS, the City has received numerous complaints with reference to the vacant building since June, 1971, and the building was found to be open and vandalized, and WHEREAS, a recent fire and general deterioration has rendered the building structurally dangerous, and WHEREAS, the building is located near Miami Jackson School Complex, and WHEREAS, the building is to be sold to Dade County Public Schools but the sale will not be consummated for some time and the purchase agreement includes funds for demolition, and WHEREAS, Dade County Public Schools is requesting that the City of Miami proceed with the demolition of the building and charge the School Board for the cost of demolition; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to proceed 'with the demolition of the two-story CBS structure located at 3812 N. W. 17th Avenue in accordance with the June 28, 1973 request of J. 11. Matteson, Supervisor, Site Planning for Dade County Public Schools, attached and made a part hereof. • Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Ben Hurwitz, Incorporated, in an amount not exceed $_Z, 800 to 'accomplish said cl.r_tolition. 4110 PASSED AND ADOPTED this / day of APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: Alan H.
