A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER AND
CITY ATTORNEY TO INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITY
OF AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI OF
1957, AS AMENDED, TO MAKE ELIGIBLE THE EMPLOYEES
OF THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR THE
MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT PLAN AND
FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI GROUP INSURANCE PLAN AS
ESTABLISHED BY OR UNDER THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI OF 1957, AS AMENDED, IN THE SAME
MANNER THAT THE CITY OF MIAMI EMPLOYEES ARE
ELIGIBLE.
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of public health, safety,
morals, and welfare to provide a retirement plan and life and
health insurance coverage for the employees of the Downtown
Development Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has an existing retirement plan
and existing life and health insurance coverage for City of Miami
employees; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest: of efficiency to utilize the
existing City of Miami retirement plan and life and health cover-
age rather than to creabca new, separate plan and life and health
insurance coverage for the Downtown Development Authority;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager and City Attorney are
directed to investigate the possibility of amending the Code of
the City of Miami of 1957, as amended, to make employees of the
Downtown Development Authority eligible for the Miami General
Employees' Retirement Plan and for the City of Miami Group
Insurance Plan in the same manner that City of Miami employees
