Dear Citizen:
On March 14, 1972, we, the citizens of Miami, made a momentous decision
for the future of our community by the passage of the 39. 9 million dollar
Parks for People Bond Issue. Funds derived from the sale of these bonds
will enable Miami to embark upon a far-reaching program of park expansion
and improvement.
As our City has grown and the desire and demand for leisure time activities
has increased, our parks have proved to be inadequate to meet these escalating
demands. Funds derived from the sale of the bonds will enable us to create
many new parks in all neighborhoods of the City and to revitalize existing
facilities.
The continuation of public participation in the planning and implementation of
park improvements is an essential component of the Parks for People program.
The involvement of recreational task forces throughout the City has provided
invaluable assistance to the City in the processes of park redevelopment and
expansion.
Your participation is crucial to the success of this program. Recommendations
made by a Task Force composed of members of your community will be utilized
in planning your parks.
The contributions you are making at this meeting will have an invaluable impact
upon the City for future generations and insure the success of the Parks for.
People Bond Program.

west area. An additional community pork is needed to serve the area east of 17111
Avenue and north of SW 8th Street. Existing facilities need to be upgraded to
better serve residents of the area.
