A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO PROCEED WITH AN EVALUATION OF THE COCONUT
GROVE INCINERATOR AND SITE AS OUTLINED IN
THE CITY MANAGER'S MEMORANDUM ON THIS MATTER
DATED MAY 21, 1973, COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED
HERETO AND BY REFERENCE MADE A PART HEREOF
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
That the City Manager be, and he is, hereby authorized to
proceed with an evaluation of the Coconut Grove Incinerator and
site as outlined in the City Manager's memorandum on this matter
dated May 21, 1973, copy of which is attached hereto and by
reference made a part hereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of May, 1973.

RESOLUTION PROC:LAINIING THAT DADE:
COUNTY HAS NO `:F.ED FOR A SOLID WASTE . .
FACILITY IN TIIE COCONUT GROVE AREA
AND WILL NOT USE THE COCONUT GROVE
INCINERATOR SITE: FOR SOLID WASTE
DISPOSAL
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami, Florida, by
Resolution No. 73-400, adopted May 24, 077,, stated that the City will not
pursue a program to modernize the Coconut Grove Incinerator nor consider
the site for other methods of solid waste disposal; and
WHEREAS, the same resolution states that it is City policy to convert
the subject site into a City of Miami neighborhood park; and

WHEREAS, the same resolution requests the Board of County Commis-
sioners to declare that the Coconut Grove Incinerator site will not he used for
solid waste disposal; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has been advised by
their Consultants, Greenleaf/Telesca and by the County Manager. that such a
declaration is proper and in the best interest of the people of Dade County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE JT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that use of the Coconut Grove
Incinerator site is not contemplated in the Master Plan of Solid Waste Management
approved by Resolution No. R-456-73, adopted by this Board on April 16, 1973,
nor will the Coconut Grove Incinerator site be used for any solid waste disposal
purposes by Dade County, Florida.
