from Architects for Design

SN::LOSURSS:
The City Commission by Resolution No. 72-846, adopted December 28,
1972, authorized the City Manager to receive proposals from
architects for the design of police facilities to be developed on
property being acquired in the Downtown Government Center. The
Resolution further provided that the result of the architects'
submissions be presented to the City Commission for its consideration.
An invitation to submit proposals, a synopsis of the proposed work,
and a City of Miami architect questionnaire were sent to approxi-
mately 320 architectural firms in Dade County. A notice of the
proposed work was also published in the newsletter of the Florida
Association of the American Institute of Architects which has a
membership of 1200 firms throughout the state of Florida. We
also sent this notice to 19 chapters of the FAAIA throughout the
state of Florida. These proposals were to be submitted to the
City before March 30, 1973.
The City received proposals from 21 architectural firms which are

ENCLOSURES:
The City Commission by Resolution No. 72-846, adopted December 28,
1972, authorized the City Manager to receive proposals from

The firm of Connell, Pierce, Garland & Friedman was established in 1946 and
Connell Associates, Inc., was established in 1968. The principals in these
firms have listed experience in this field of from 25 to 40 years each.
Principals qualifications are listed in the material submitted to the City.
This firm is the architect and is responsible for all the professional architectural
services for the following projects: manufacturing plants, church, hotel, office
buildings, University of Miami residence halls and dining facilities, etc., with
an approximate estimated cost of $39 million. See attached Sheet #1 for detailed
information.
This firm is the architect and is responsible for work on the following projects
that are now in the design stages: office buildings, medical center and school,
electronic switch stations for Southern Bell, hangar and flight simulator for
Eastern Airlines, etc., with an approximate estimated cost of $97 million. These
projects are in various percentages of design completion. See attached Sheet #2
for detailed information.
This firm in association with various other firms has completed the following
projects: auditoriums, office buildings, colleges, Florida Pavillion at New York
World's Fair in 1964, etc., with an approximate estimated cost of $23 million, of
which this firm is responsible for approximately $19 million. See attached Sheet 4�3
for detailed information.
This firm in association with Donald Ritchie is responsible for the mechanical and
electrical engineering for the Doctor's Hospital Addition at a cost of approximately
$4,400,000 of which this firm is resp:.:I.- ble for $1,740,000. See attached Sheet #4
