A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH METROPOLITAN
DADE COUNTY FOR THE TRANSFER OF A SMALL
PARCEL OF LAND OWNED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI
LOCATED ON N. W. 8 COURT BETWEEN 17 AND 18
STREETS.
WHEREAS, on March 15, 1973, the Metropolitan Dade County
Department of Housing and Urban Development indicated a desire to acquire
a small tract of City owned property located on N. W. 8 Court between
17 and 18 Streets and;
WHEREAS, the Summit Park plat of 1912 designates the subject
parcel of land as a park and;
WHEREAS, this park has never been developed and;
WHEREAS, this undeveloped park is located within Neighborhood
Development Program Area i/3 - Central Miami - and has been planned for
hospital and medical facilities expansion.
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County has acquired all the parcels
within the block with the expansion of the subject property and;
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County intends to reuse a portion
of the block as a model day care facility to be developed with County bond
revenues, and to develop the City -owned property as a park in conjunction
with the day care facility.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to negotiate with
Metropolitan Dade County for the transfer of a small parcel of land owned
by the City of Miami located on N. W. 8 Court between 17 and 18 Streets.
