A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE INTENT OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI TO PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION IN
EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES IN THE CITY OF MIAMI
AGAINST ANY EMPLOYEE OR APPLICANT FOR EMPLOY-
MENT ON THE BASIS OF RACE, COLOR, CREED, SEX
OR NATIONAL ORIGIN, INCLUDING DISCRIMINATION
IN EMPLOYMENT, PROMOTION, DEMOTION, TRANSFER,
LAYOFF, TERMINATION, APPRENTICESHIP, TRAINING,
AND RATES OF PAY.
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Miami to
encourage fair treatment and equal opportunity for all persons
regardless of race, color, creed, sex and national origin; and
WHEREAS, discrimination against individua Ls because of
race, color, creed, sex or national origin is an affront to the
dignity of the individuals discriminated against, and intensifies
group conflicts, and is detrimental to the public health, safety
and welfare; and
WHEREAS, discrimination in employment adversely affects
the continued development, growth and progress of the City of
Miami and the citizens thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Miami hereby establishes its
intent to prohibit discrimination in employment practices in the
City of Miami against any employee or applicant for employment on
the basis of race, color, creed, sex or national origin, including
discrimination in employment promotion, demotion, transfer, layoff,
termination, recruitment, recruitment advertising, apprenticeship,
training, and rates of pay.
