IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $46,500 FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE I)" AND THE BID OF BEN HURWITZ INC. IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $40,100 FOR "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE II); ALLOOATING THE AMOUNT OF $95,435FROM THE ACCOUNT ENTITLED "POLICE HEADQUARTERS AND CRIME PREVENTION FACILITIES" AND THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $1,565 FROM THE ACCOUNT ENTITLED "CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND -- UNALLOCATED FUNDS"; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS THEREFOR. WHEREAS, bids were received January 10, 1973 for "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973" job No.2571-A; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the low tidder for Base Bid A and Base Bid B coptained an obvious error; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney's office has advised that under the existing circumstances it is appropriate to award a contract to the second low bidder fol Base Eid A; and WHEREAS, under the aforesaid conditions the City Manager reports that the bid of ABC Demolition, for Ease Bid A is an accept- able tid in the estimated amount of $46,500 and that the tid of Ben Hurwits Inc. for Base Bid C in the estimated amount of $40,100 is the lowest. bid (acceptable) and recommends that a contract be awarded to each of the aforesaid firms; and WHEREAS, funds are available for allocation from the account entitled "Police Headquarters ancjiCrime Prevention Facilities" to cover the portion of the contract to to accomplished in the Downtown Government Center and funds are available from the "Capital Improve- ment Fund -- Unallocated Funds" account to cover the cost of a portion of the contract to be accomplished at the Dinner Key Old Coast Guard facility; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COI•MIMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the bid of ABC Demolition Corp. received fd January 10, 1973 for the "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS • DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE I)" namely Base Bid A, being the total of Items lA and 2 of the Proposal, being a lump sum bid, at a - total estimated cost of $46,500 be, and the same is hereby accepted at the prices stated in said Proposal. Section 2. That the bid of Ben Hurwitz Inc. received January 10, 1973 for the "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE II)", namely Base Bid C, being Items 3 through 17 of Proposal at a total estimated cost of $40,100 be, and it is hereby, accepted at the prices stated in said Proposal. Section 3. That the amount of $95,435be, and it is hereby allocated from the account entitled "Police Heaiquarters and Crime Prevention Facilities." Section Li. That the additional amount of $1,565 be, and the same is hereby, allocated from the account entitled "Capital Improvement Fund -- Unallocated Funds". Section 5. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to enter into contracts with ABC Demolition Corp. and Ben Hurwitz Inc. as provided in Sections 1 and 2 hereof, for the contracts entitled "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE I)" and "DOWNTOWN GOVERNMENT CENTER -- BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -- 1973 (PHASE II)".
