A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE FROM
THE SOUTHERN BOAT SHOWS, INC. OF TWO FLOATING
DOCKS FOR USE AT THE MARINE STADIUM, AT A TOTAL
COST OF $4, 550. 00.
WHEREAS, the Southern Sail and Powerboat Show, which just
ended its exhibition at the Marine Stadium, made use of a number of
new floating docks as part of its physical setup for the event; and
WHEREAS, the management of the show has indicated that they
are willing to sell two of these floats to the City at cost, if the City can
guarantee the purchase before December 18, 1974, when the floats must
be dismantled and removed if they are not to be sold to the City; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the floats is such that they can
be used to support heavy loads being moved from the grandstand to the
City barge and back, and thus reduce the number of barge -moves
required for each concert event held at the Marine Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the price of $4, 550. 00 for both of the said floats is
considered to be very reasonable, and the reduction in the number of
barge moves also represents cost savings to both event promoters and
the City; and
WHEREAS, the funds for this purchase are available in the Marine
Stadium Fund Balance and can be later transferred by Ordinance to
accomplish this purchase;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized
to commit the City to the emergency purchase of two floats from the
Southern Boat Shows, Inc. at a total price of $4, 550. 00, so that said
floats can be used to reduce the difficulty and cost of presenting concert
events at the Marine Stadium.

REMARKS:
Section 2. The City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized
to prepare, for later presentation to this City Commission, an ordinance
transferring funds from the Marine Stadium Fund Balance to accomplish
this purchase.
