RESOLUTION No. ,74"' 05
A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND CONE IRMINWATF E ACTION
OF THE CITY MANAGER IN APPROVING AN EMERGENCY
PURCHASE OP AN ASH TRUCr ACTOR CAB FOR TRUCK
N0. 1964, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE PUR-
CHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO INTER-
NATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY, MIAMI, FLORIDA, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,683.51.
WHEREAS, the Twentieth Street Incinerator of the City of
Miami was anticipated to cease operation by April, 1975, purchases
for the replacement ofusel tractors were not budgeted in the 1973-74
fiscal year. It is now evident that the incinerator will be in
operation beyond the anticipated closing date; it has become neces-
sary to keep the older equipment in service. The subject truck
tractor cab for truck 1964, was completely rusted and beyond repair;
and
WHEREAS, recognizing that this was an emergency situation,
the International Harvester Company, the only source of supply, was
contacted for an estimate and possible delivery date. In the mean-
time attempts were made to repair the existing cab to prolong its
usefulness a few more months. International Harvester Company inter-
preted our inquiry as a request for purchase and delivered the cab
to the city garage. Under the critical circumstances, which could
potentially be further complicated by long delivery schedules for this
type of equipment, the cab was accepted from International Harvester
Company as the only source of supply;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI:
Section 1. The action of the City Manager in approving an
emergency purchase of an ash truck tractor cab for truck 1964 and
