RESOLUTION NO, 74-1313
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH
CUBAN CONSTRUCTION, INC. (VALERIO CAPOTE)
FOR THE REBUILDING OF THE TORCH OF FRIENDSHIP
AT NO COST TO THE CITY OF MIAMI; AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT TO
ORDER KEYSTONE FACING FOR THE SHAFT, AFTER
DETERMINING THAT FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR
THIS PURPOSE TO BE REIMBURSED TO THE CITY
BY CUBAN CONSTRUCTION, INC.
WNLRBAS, the To.rch of Friendship in Bayfront Park was
damaged by Cuban Militants; and
WHEREAS, Cuban Construction, Inc. (Valerio Capote) was
contacted to rebuild the Torch of Friendship, following
original plans and furnishing all labor and materials,
licenses and permits; and
WHEREAS, no costs for the rebuilding of the Torch of
Friendship are to be borne by the City of Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager be, and is hereby, author-
ized and directed to enter into a contract with Cuban Con-
struction, Inc. (Valerio Capote) for the rebuilding of the
Torch of Friendship at no cost to the City of Miami.
Section 2. The City Manager be, and is hereby, authorized
and directed to instruct the Purchasing Department to order
keystone facing for the shaft to be reimbursed to the City
of Miami by Cuban Construction, Inc. after first
