A RESOLUTION • AUT HORI ZlNG AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EaGAGE THE SERVICES OF A FULLTII
RESIDENT ENGINEER FOR THE MIAr4I MODERN POLICE
HEADQUARTERS BUILDING AND ALSO FOR THE PARKING
GARAGE AND SITE DEVELOPMENT; THESE SERVICES TO
INCLUDE ALL THOSE SERVICES NORMALLY PROVIDED BY
THE CITY OF MIA:'iI DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS;
AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF A SALARY OFv 2/ 000
PER YEAR; ALLOCATING THE AMOUNT OF4ai 500 FROM
THE PROPER FUNDS.
WHEREAS, a contract for the construction of the Miami
Modern Police Headquarters building has been awarded to
A.D.H., Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of hiring a
consultant to design a parking garage and site development
work which construction will take place at the same time as
the Miami Modern Police Headquarters building; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to engage the services of a
resident engineer for these two buildings and the site
development work; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Department of Public Works is
not at the present time capable of providing these services;
and
WHEREAS, the agreement between the City and the consultant
for the Miami Modern Police Headquarters building did not include
complete supervision of construction; and
WHEREAS, the hiring of a resident engineer by the City and
placing him under the responsibility of the consultant, or
consultants, will protect the City's interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager be and he .is hereby,
authorized and directed to engage the professional service; of
an individual for the duration of the construction or the Miami
Modern Police Headquarters building and parking garage and site
development, not to exceed a period of two years, at a salary of
$21,000 per year as resident engineer for the Miami Modern Police

resident engineer for supervision and inspection of the Miami
Modern Police Headquarters building, parking garage and site
