A RESOLUTION AU'I'IIORIZfl G TIIE CITE' Or
MIAMI TO SPONSOR A WI/AM STAR TREATER
DURING A PERIOD SPANNING PORTIONS OP THE
PERIOD NOVEMBER, 1974 THROUGH SEPTEMBER,
1975, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY
ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECT THE ACCOMPLISiIMENT OF rins
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that sufficient
funds can be borrowed from the Downtown Development Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Commission finds that this is a non-profit
function and that any profits that are made will become the property of the
Downtown Development Authority and placed in the fund for the purpose of
furthering the interest of the theater in the Greater Miami area; and
WHEREAS, the Commission finds that it has the authority
to sponsor the Miami Star Theater under Section 3 (z) of its Charter; and
WHEREAS, the Commission finds it is necessary in the best
interest of public health, safety, morals, and welfare, and in the interest of
revitalizing the central business district to promote cultural activities in the
City of Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City shall sponsor the Miami Star Theater.
Section 2. The City Manager and City Attorney are authorized
to do all things necessary to effect the accomplishment of this resolution.
