A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST KAISER ENGINEERS TO •
STUDY AND REPORT TO BOTH THE METROPLITAN DADE
COUNTY COMMISSION AND THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, THE ECONOMIC FEASABILITY OF
ESTABLISHING A "PEOPLE MOVER" SYSTEM IN THE
DOWNTOWN AREA, TO RUN FROM MARGARET PACE PARK
DOWN TO CLAUGHTON ISLAND, INCLUDING LINES
RUNNING TO THE GOVERNMENT CENTER; FURTHER
REQUESTING THAT MEETINGS ARE TO BE HELD WITH
THE OFF-STREET PARKING AUTHORITY, THE DOWN-
TOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, THE METROPOLITAN
TRANSIT AGENCY,- . THE CITY OF MIAMI, THE
STATE OF FLORIDA AND OTHER INVOLVED AGENCIES,
TO PARTICIPATE IN A JOINT VENTURE WITH BOTH
THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS; DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO SEND COPIES OF THIS RESO-
LUTION TO ALL INVOLVED PARTIES°
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to request Kaiser Engineers to study and report
to both the Metropolitan Dade County Commission and the
Commission of the City of Miami, the economic feasability
of establishing a "people mover" system in the downtown area,
to run from Margaret Pace Park down .to Claughton Island, includ-
ing lines running to the Government Center.
Section 2. It is hereby further requested that
meetings be held with the Off -Street Parking Authority, The
Downtown Development Authority, The Metropolitan Transit
Agency,.`. the City of Miami, the State of Florida and other
involved agencies to participate in a joint venture with both
the public and private sectors.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
