A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ATTEMPT TO
TRANSFER THE RACING DATES FROM HIALEAH
RACE TRACK TO ANY OTHER RACE TRACK;
CALLING UPON ALL CONCERNED OFFICIALS,
NATIONAL, STATE, AND LOCAL, TO INTERVENE
AT TEE EARLIEST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY TO
DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO KEEP HIALEAH
RACE TRACK OPEN.
WHEREAS, the officials of the Hialeah Race Track
are planning to transfer the racing season from Hialeah
Race Track to Gulfstream Race Track; and
WHEREAS, such a transfer would cause irreparable
damage to the economy of the City of Hialeah and Dade
County in a multi -million dollar figure; and
WHEREAS, the Hialeah Race Track is an institution
which has long been the bulwark to racing on a National level,
and the transfer of dates and closing of Hialeah Race Track
would seriously endanger racing for all time in the South
Florida area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Strong opposition is hereby voiced to
any attempt to transfer the racing dates from Hialeah Race
Track to any other race track.
Section 2. All concerned officials, National,
State, and Local, particularly the State Board of Business
Regulation are hereby asked to intervene at the earliest
possible opportunity and asked to do whatever is necessary to
