RESOLUTION NO.
74-1180
A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE EMERGENCY ACTION TAKEN
BY THE CITY MANAGER IN AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
THREE (3) SECTIONS OF TARPAULIN FOR THE ORANGE BOWL
POLYTURF COVER SYSTEM FROM BROWN AND BROWN COMPANY
OF MOBILE, ALABAMA, AT A COST OF $10,365.
WHEREAS, on February 28, 1974 a report was submitted
.by this Department to the City Manager indicating severe
deterioration of the existing Tarpaulin Cover System, and
a decision was made at that time to undertake repairs of
the existing system to facilitate this football season,
however, due to accelerated deterioration and handling of
Ole tarpaulin in covering and uncovering the field during
activities, it is evident that three (3) sections of the
system will not adequately maintain playable field con-

ditions in the event of inclement weather; and
WHEREAS, five (5) suppliers of industrial fabrics were
contacted, with the firm of "Brown and Brown" being the
lowest responsive bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The emergency action taken by the City
Manager in authorizing the purchase of three (3) sections
of tarpaulin for the Orange Bowl Polyturf Cover System from
Brown and Brown Company of Mobile, Alabama, at a cost of
$10,365.00, is hereby ratified.
