RESOLUTION NO.74-1124
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE
CITY COMMISSION OF THE PASSAGE OF THE
"INTERNATIONAL FAIR COMPETITIVE PRACTICES
ACT OF 1974" TO HELP AMERICAN CARRIERS
COMPETE ON AN EQUAL BASIS WITH FOREIGN
CARRIERS; AUTHORIZING AND DIREUIWN THE
ITY TO SEND A TELEGRAM TO THE
FIVE (5) CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES OF
THE STATE OF FLORIDA EXPRESSING THE INTENT
OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, thousands of families in Dade County will
be placed into the ranks of the unemployed if Pan American
World Airways is forced out of business by "unfair treatment"
by our Federal Government; and
WHEREAS, there are presently two Bills in Congress
entitled "International Fair Competitive Practices Act of
1974" S.B. 3481 and H.R. 14266; and
WHEREAS, the "International Fair Competitive Practices
Act of 1974" provides for equal pay for both domestic and
foreign carriers of U.S. Mail, and additionally foreign govern-
ments would be required to maintain landing fees equal to those
charged their aircraft in the United States; for example,Pan
American Airways is currently charged $4,788 to land at Sydney,
Australia, but an Australian plane, such as Qantas Airlines
landing at San Francisco is charged $300;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby expresses
its support of the passage of the "International Fair Competitive
Practices Act of 1974" to help American Carriers compete on an

Section 2. The City Clerk is authorized and
directed to send a telegram to the five (5) Congressional
Representatives of the State of Florida expressing the
intent of this resolution.
