RESOtUTION
WHEREAS: Thousands of citizens of Honduras have perished
with thousands more injured and homeless follow-
ing the destructive path sown by Hurricane Fifi,
leaving in its wake utter destruction and profound
human suffering, and
WHEREAS :
Miamians who have suffered from the savage fury of
past hurricanes, can well sympathize with the
misery and tragedy of all Hondureans, our fellow
neighbors in the Americas, and
WHEREAS: A close and friendly relationship has long existed
between the people of Honduras and those of Miami,
built upon years of mutual accord, exchange of
visitors and cordial trade relations;
Now, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Maurice A. Ferre, Mayor of
the City of Miami, Florida, do hereby resolve:
1. That all Miamians should do their utmost to
support the humanitarian effort now underway by
various agencies to alleviate as best as possible
the extreme shortage of vital goods needed in the
aftermath of Hurricane Fifi.
2. Furthermore, that Miamians should participate
in the relief effort in every way possible, such
as by donating clothing, canned goods, other
necessary items and even cash contributions to
the proper authorized agencies.
