A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING THE INCREASED MILEAGE RATE NECESSITATED BY THE ADOPTION OF THE 1974-75 BUDGET, AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE THE PROPOSED TAX INCREASE AND THE PUBLIC HEARING IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. WHEREAS, the Budget Estimate of the City Manager, as reviewed and amended by the Commission of the City of Miami, will require a millage rate in excess of the millage as certified by the Dade County Tax Assessor; and WHEREAS, Section 200.065, Florida Statutes, sets forth certain requirements to be followed when a municipality plans to exceed the assessor's certified millage, which include an advertisement containing a notice to the taxpayers of a proposed tax increase and subsequent public hearings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A public hearing is hereby scheduled to be held on October 7 and October ,lgeginning at 5 o'clock P.M for the purpose of hearing comments regarding the proposed increase over the assessor's certified millage and for the purpose of explaining the reasons for the proposed increase. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to place in a newspaper of general circulation an advertisement containing a notice of tax increase onOctober 7 and October10, 1974. The advertisement shall be no less than one quarter (1/4) page in size and the smallest type used shall be eighteen (18) point. 'DOCUMENT INDEXCITY COMMISS��)P�� MEETING or ITEM NO. SEP 2 71974 RFsm 7 The advertisement shall not be placed in that portion of the newspaper where legal notices and classified advertisements appear. The advertisement shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county that is published at least six (6) days a week, and the newspaper to be selected shall be one of general interest and readership in the community and not one of limited subject matter. The advertisement shall be in the following form: 1974. NOTICE OF TAX INCREASE The City of Miami proposes to increase your property taxes. A public hearing on the increase will be held on October 7 and October 10, 1974, in the City Commission Room at City Hall, Dinner Key, in the City of Miami, Florida.
