A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE ACTION TAKEN
BY THE CITY MANAGER ON JULY 23, 1974 IN WAIVING THE
RENTAL FEE FOR USE OF THE MARINE STADIUM BY THE MIAMI
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE MIAMI HERALD FOR A CONCERT,
THE PROFITS FROM WHICH WERE USED AS A DONATION TO A
CHARITABLE CAUSE AND, IN RECOGNITION OF THESE CONCERTS
BEING IN SUPPORT OF CULTURAL ACTIVITIES NECESSARY TO
PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITY; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO WAIVE THE RENTAL FEE FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE SERIES OF CONCERTS.
WHEREAS, the City Commission by Motion 74-510 on June 17, 1974,
instructed the City Manager to cooperate in the effort by the Miami Chamber
of Commerce to present a charitable Sumner Concert Program at the Miami
Marine Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the profits of this program of concerts is to be given
to the Lend -a -Hand Fund; and
WHEREAS, the first of these concerts was presented on July 23,
1974, with the remainder scheduled for several dates in the month of August;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the action of the City Manager in waiving the
rental fee for the Miami Chamber of Commerce and Miami Herald charitable
concert held at the Marine Stadium on July 23, 1974, is hereby ratified and
confirmed; and authorization is hereby also granted to the City Manager to
waive the rental fee for each concert in the remainder of the series.
