A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY
OFFXCtALS TO GRANT A QUITCLAIM DEED TO
THE $ZAMIdiDADE WATER AJfl SEWER A T RD ,
TRANSFERRING TO THE AUTSDRITY THE SITE OF
THE EXISTING VIRGINIA KEY TREATMENT PLANTt
SUBJECT TO RECEIPT BY THE CITY OF MIAMI OF
MONIES OWED IT BY THE MIAMI•-DADE WATER &
SEWER AUTHORITY IN THE APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF
$460.000.00 WITH A REVERTER PROVIDING THAT
IF THE PROPERTY IS NO LONGER NECESSARY FOR
THE OPERATION OF THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM,
THE PROPERTY SHALL REVERT BACK TO THE CITY
OF MIAMI.
WHEREAS, approximately 68.67 acres of land owned
by the City of Miami is currently being utilized by the
Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Authority as the Virginia Key
Treatment Plant; and
WHEREAS, for the past year negotiations have been
under way for the transfer of properties and assets of the
Miami Water and Sewer System to the Miami -Dade Water and
Sewer Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Authority
is in the process of obtaining Federal Funds for the extension
of ocean outfall and the expansion of the existing sewerage
treatment plant; and
WHEREAS, a prerequisite for the receipt of these
grant funds is that the Autnority demonstrate ownership of the
plant and site;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The proper city officials are hereby
authorized to grant a quitclaim deed to the Miami -Dade
Water and Sewer Authority transferring to the Authority the
site of the existing Virginia Key Treatment Plant which is
currently being used by the Authority; subject to receipt by
the City of Miami monies owed it by the Miami -Dade Water and
Sewer Authority in the approximate amount of $460,000.00;
with a reverter providing that if the Authority ceases to
exist, or if the property is no longer necessary for the
operation of the Sanitary Sewer System, the property shall
revert back to the City.of Miami.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS iltb day of July, 1974.
