A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY AND STANFORD RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOR
THE THIRD PHASE OF THE DESIGN AND IMPLE-
MENTATION OF THE MIAMI MODERN POLICE
DEPARTMENT PROGRAM AND UPON COMPLETION OF
NEGOTIATIONS AND FORMULATION OF AN AGREE-
MENT TO HAVE SAID AGREEMENT BROUGHT BEFORE
THE CITY COMMISSION FOR APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Miami have
approved a Bond Issue in the amount of Twenty Million Dollars
($20,000,000) for Police Headquarters and Crime Prevention
Facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the Miami Modern Police Department
(MMPD) program has been deferred as a three phase study
lasting approximately forty-eight (48) months to be conduc-
ted by Stanford Research Institute; and
WHEREAS, the ongoing second phase of the three
phase program is scheduled to terminate approximately July 15,
1974;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized
to negotiate an agreement between the City and Stanford Research
Institute for the third phase of the design and implementation
of the Miami Modern Police Department program and upon
completion of negotiations and formulation of an agreement to
have said agreement brought before the City Commission for
approval.
