HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-74-03845/9/74 RESOLUTION NO. 74' -a941 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI TO MEET WITH THE APPROPRIATE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LATIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND OTHER INTERESTED ORGANIZATIONS, WITH RESPECT TO REMODEL- ING AND BEAUTIFYING S. W. 8TH STREET, WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI POPULARLY KNOWN AS "LITTLE HAVANA", TO MAKE A STUDY THEREOF, AND TO SUBMIT SPECIFIC RECOM- MENDATIONS TO THE CITY COMMISSION PRIOR TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE 1974-1975 BUDGET. WHEREAS, S. W. 8th Street has, by virtue of the efforts and business acumen of Latin American citizens of Miami, become a thriving business and commercial area popularly known as "Little Havana"; and WHEREAS, public spirited groups of Latin American citizens of Miami are anxious to improve, beautify the area, and create a truly Latin atmosphere so that the area will also become an attraction to tourists and residents alike; and WHEREAS, such a concept is deserving of consideration and implementation; and WHEREAS, the cooperation of the City of Miami and local groups is necessary for the implementation of this concept; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEE'i lNG OF MAY --/ qi V- "fl4CUMENT INDEX FBI No. 3 Section 1. The City Administration of the City of Miami is hereby authorized and directed to meet with the appropriate representatives of the Latin Chamber of Commerce and other interested organizations, with respect to remodeling and beautifying Si W. 8th Street, within the City of Miami popularly known as "Little Havana", to make a study thereof, and to submit specific recommendations to the City Commission prior to the establishment of the 1974-1975 Budget.
