A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE REQUEST OF THE
TENTH DISTRICT AMERICAN LEGION FOR THE
WAIVING OF THE RENTAL FEE AT THE MIAMI
BASEBALL STADIUM FOR THE AMERICAN LEGION
SUMMER BASEBALL PROGRAM FROM MAY THROUGH
AUGUST, 1974 FOR GAMES TO BE PLAYED ON
DATES WHEN THE STADIUM IS NOT BEING USED,
SUBJECT TO PAYMENT OP EVENT PERSONNEL,
LIGHTS, INSURANCE AND OTHER DIRECT COSTS
BORNE BY THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation realizes
the value of competitive athletics for the young men of high
school age; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is extreme-
ly interested in promoting American Legion Baseball in the Miami
area; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Tenth District Baseball League
has been granted free use of the Miami Baseball Stadium for the
past several years through various resolutions passed by the City
of Miami Commission; and
WHEREAS, the baseball program accommodates youth under
nineteen (19) years of age. Services furnished by the City
during these games are the preparation and marking of the field,
setting of the bases, lighting, and opening and closing the
stadium; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 73-120 last year granted this
organization free use of the Miami Stadium for the summer baseball
program from May through August, for games to be played on dates
when the stadium is not being used, subject to payment of event
personnel, lights, insurance and other direct costs borne by the
City;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. To grant the request of the Tenth District
American Legion for the waiving of the rental fee at the MIAMI
BASEBALL STADIUM for the American Legion Summer Baseball Program
from May through August, 1974 for games to be played on dates
when the stadium is not being used, subject to payment of event
personnel, lights, insurance and other direct costs borne by the
City.
