A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING
THE ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $1, 000
REPRESENTING 10% OF THE TOTAL 13ID TO
ACQUIRE THE 1976 GOLDEN GLOVES CHAMPION-
SHIP TOURNAMENT FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been officially designated a
Bicentennial city; and
WHEREAS, the 1976 Superbowl will be played in the City of Miami
Orange Bowl Stadium; and
WHEREAS, the 1976 Golden Gloves Championship Tournament will
be a major event during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager determined it in the best interest of
the City of Miami to actively seek that the 1976 Golden Glove Champion-
ship Tournament be held in the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the opening bid minimum required was $10, 000 with a
10% deposit; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami will receive initial income of $5, 000
for the television rights from the 1976 Golden Gloves Championship Tourna-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami will receive a minimum of $5, 000
from gate receipts and other sources of revenue to cover added expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the action of the City Manager in actively seeking
that the 1976 Golden Glove Championship Tournament be held in the City
of Miami is hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized the expendi-
ture of $1, 000 representing 10% of the total bid of $10, 000 to acquire the
1976 Golden Gloves Championship Tournament to be held in the City of Miami.
