The City Commission has previously expressed its wish
to have the Miami Convention Center constructed at. the
earliest possible date. It has also directed the City
Manager to negotiate an agreement with the architectural
firm of Ferendino, Crafton, Spillis, Candela.
After a series of meetings and written communications,
the City Administration is now in the process of finalizing
an agreement which will be st.ihmitted to the City Attorney's
office in the very near future. The agreement will be a
lump sum contract and will include the hiring of specialists
in Facility Ntanagement and t nustical engineering.
In order to cxpNdite the consultant's work, it. is requested
that the Commission authorize the expenditure of up to
$10, 000 to immediately initiate the preparation of
preliminary :stages of the Programming and Master Planning
phase of the project. This expenditure will he credited
against the negotiated fee when the final agreement is
executed by the consultant and the City.
