A RESOLUTION APPROVING A ONE YEAR EXTENSION
OF EMPLOYMENT PAST THE AGE OF SEVENTY-ONE (71)
FOP RAFAEL GARCIA, INTERPRETER CLERK, CITY OF
MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 30,
1975 TO OCTOBER 30, 1976, WITH THE PROVISION
THAT IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLBACK OR LAYOFF
MR. GARCIA, RATHER THAN A JUNIOR EMPLOYEE,
WOULD BE AFFECTED.
WHEREAS, the Executive Secretary, Civil Service Board
has recommended an extension of employment past the age of
seventy-one (71) for Rafael Garcia, Interpreter Clerk, City of
Miami Police Department, effective October 30, 1975 to October
30, 1976; and
WHEREAS, the City Physician has determined that the
physical condition of said Rafael Garcia is satisfactory for
continued employment; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board has unanimously
recommenced the approval of employment past the age of seventy-one
(71) for said Rafael Garcia for an additional year;
NCB, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. A one (1) year extension of employment
past the age of seventy-one (71) for Rafael Garcia, Interpreter
Clerk, City of Miami Police Department, effective October 30,
1975 to October 30, 1976 be, and is hereby approved, with the
provision that in the event of a rollback or layoff, Mr. Garcia,

At its meeting of September 30, 1975, the Civil Service Board considered the request
of Rafael Garcia, interpreter Clerk, Police Department, for an extension of employment
for a period of one year, to be effective October 30, 1975 to October 30, 1976.
The Board noted that Garland Watkins, Chief of Police, has recommended approval of this
request, and that Dr. L. A. Toto, City Physician, has found Mr. Garcia physically quali-
fied to Continue employment fci the addittohal year.
The bard voted unanimously to approve the request, with the provision that in the event
of a rollback or layoff, Mr. Garcia, rather than a junior employee, would be affected,
noting this Ls to accordance with past policy.

Request for Age Waives
for Rafael Garcia
Rafael Garcia, interpreter Clerk of the Patrol
Section, is desirous of working an additional
year beginning October 30, ,075. Mr. Garcia has
previously received permission to work passed
the age of 70 by City Commission Resolution Number
74-1190. In addition, the City of Miami Medical
Department has deemed this employee acceptable
to work the requested year.
The City of Miami Police Department therefore
requests that this extension be granted.
