DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND WELFARE, OFFICE or EDUCATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $119.458.80 AND ENTER INTO AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE A PROGRAM TO TRAIN R:Cctk:ATiQN STAFF TO PROVIDE RECREATION SERVICES FOR THE HANDICAPPED. DIRECTING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO IMPLEMENT TIIIS PROGRAM UPON APPROVAL. OF APPLICATION BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND WELFARE, OFFICE OF EDUCATION. WHEREAS, the Office of Education, Department of Health, Education and Welfare has sources of funding for Handicapped Physical Education and Recreation training authorised by the Education of the Handicapped Act, Title VI (Part D, Section 634), Public Law 91.230, 20 U.S.C. 1401 WHEREAS, the United States Department of Health, E.t" 'u,+ aiiu Welfare will totally fund the City of Miami for a training program which meets their guidelines to improve the quality and increase the supply of recreation personnel trained to work with the handicapped WHEREAS, the City of Miami is currently providing ongoing recreation programs for the handicapped. and is desirous of improving the quality of staff who work in these programs by instituting a training program to train these staff on how to better provide recreation services to the handicapped NOW. THEREFORE, 13E LT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MINIM, FLORit)A: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorised and directed to make application of the Office of Education. Section 2, The City Manager is also directed to have the proper City officials implement the program upon approval of the City's application and dispersal of funds by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
