WHEREAS, Angel Gonzalez ("Mr. Gonzalez") has dedicated many years to public service and community leadership within the City of Miami ("City"), demonstrating a commitment to civic engagement and neighborhood empowerment; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez served the residents of the City, having been elected City Commissioner beginning in 2001 representing District 1 until 2009; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez has served as a Director of the Allapattah Business Development Authority, which promotes economic development, fostering business growth and administering affordable housing projects for District 1; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzalez has been an active participant in community -based organizations, where he worked collaboratively with residents, non-profit entities, and local stakeholders to strengthen neighborhood cohesion and address community concerns; and WHEREAS, Northwest 14th Terrace between Northwest 32nd Avenue and Northwest 37th Avenue is closely associated with Mr. Gonzalez's community service; and WHEREAS, the co -designation of this roadway as "Angel Gonzalez Way" will serve as a tribute to his community engagement and inspire future generations; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 14317, adopted September 26, 2024, authorizes the waiver of street co -designation restrictions by a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the City Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated herein. Section 2. The Miami City Commission, by a four -fifths affirmative (4/5ths) vote, pursuant to Section 54-137 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, hereby waives any restrictions related to the co -designation of Northwest 14th Terrace between Northwest 32nd Avenue and Northwest 37th Avenue as "Angel Gonzalez Way." Section 3. The City Manager is directed to take all necessary actions to effectuate this co -designation, including the installation of appropriate signage. Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste; the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works; the Miami -Dade County Commissioner of District 6; the United States Postal Service; and, if applicable, the Florida Department of Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly designated roadway. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
