HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-26-0117City of Miami Resolution R-26-0117 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18944 Final Action Date: 3/12/2026 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT 5 COMMERCIAL FAQADE AND CODE COMPLIANCE PROGRAM ("PROGRAM"), AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF UNALLOCATED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUNDS, FROM FISCAL YEAR ("FY") 2025-2026, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY-FIVE AND 00/100 DOLLARS ($570,755.00) FOR THE PROGRAM, AS DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "B," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, INCLUDING AMENDMENTS, RENEWALS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS, AS MAY BE NECESSARY, SUBJECT TO ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS THAT REGULATE THE USE OF SUCH FUNDS, FOR SAID PURPOSE. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Christine King WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. R-25-0287, adopted July 25, 2025, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds in the total amount of Five Million, Twenty -Five Thousand, Two Hundred Eighty -Three and 00/100 Dollars ($5,025,283.00) for Fiscal Year ("FY") 2025-2026, which included an amount of Two Million, Six Hundred Sixty -Seven Thousand, Eighty -Three and 95/100 Dollars ($2,667,083.95) for economic development activities; and WHEREAS, there is a need for Commercial Facade and Code Compliance rehabilitation within District 5, and it is the desire of the District 5 Commissioner to use the District 5 Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program, to meet the needs of business owners in the District, and WHEREAS, there is an unallocated amount of Five Hundred Seventy Thousand, Seven Hundred Fifty -Five and 00/100 Dollars ($570,755.00) that represents a portion of CDBG economic development funds earmarked for District 5 for FY 2025-2026, that must be allocated; and WHEREAS, the District 5 Commissioner desires to allocate an amount of Five Hundred Seventy Thousand, Seven Hundred Fifty -Five and 00/100 Dollars ($570,755.00); and WHEREAS, the City's Administration recommends the approval of the District 5 Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program, as specified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated, and to authorize the transfer of the unallocated CDBG economic development funds from FY 2025-2026, in the total amount of Five Hundred Seventy Thousand, Seven City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 18944 (Revision:) Printed On: 3/31/2026 File ID: 18944 Enactment Number: R-26-0117 Hundred Fifty -Five Dollars ($570,755.00), as described in Exhibit "B," attached and incorporated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The District 5 Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program, as specified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated, is approved.' Section 3. The transfer of the unallocated CDBG economic development funds, from FY2025-2026, in the total amount of Five Hundred Seventy Thousand, Seven Hundred Fifty - Five Dollars ($570,755.00), as described in Exhibit "B," attached and incorporated; is approved.' Section 4. The City Manager is authorized2 to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, including amendments, extensions, and modifications, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, as may be necessary to implement the transfer of said funds. Wyy ng IIG, C y ttor -y 3/3/2026 2 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 3 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
