HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-26-0130City of Miami Resolution R-26-0130 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18994 Final Action Date: 3/12/2026 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE PRIVATE PROPERTY LIMITATION FOR SPECIAL EVENTS PURSUANT CHAPTER 52/ARTICLE I/SECTION 2 OF THE CODE OF CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TITLED "SPECIAL EVENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT/SPECIAL EVENTS IN GENERAL; DURATION AND LIMITATIONS; CITY COMMISSION WAIVER," FOR THE BLOOM PRESENTS EVENTS TO BE HELD AT 24 SOUTHWEST 4 STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA FROM MARCH 1, 2026, THROUGH DECEMBER 31 2026. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Christine King WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended "(City Code"), a Special Event may occur on public or private property; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(g) of the City Code, "[n]o more than four special events shall be permitted, each for a maximum duration of seven consecutive days, to be held on the same private property or portion thereof per calendar year;" and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(i) of the City Code, "[t]he above limitations on Special Events may be waived by an affirmative vote of the City Commission for the calendar year affected. Any such additional Permit(s), however, will be limited to fourteen (14) consecutive days at a time;" and WHEREAS, "The Bloom Presents" is an immersive art experience that will have curated art from the most influential artists throughout the globe; and WHEREAS, the lessee at the property located at 24 Southwest 4th Street, Miami, Florida ("Event Site") has been hosting "The Bloom Presents" ("Event") which provides a unique cultural experience for City of Miami ("City") residents; and WHEREAS, the Event has created pop-up structures in order to bring this immersive experience to Miami, both for residents as well as visitors; and WHEREAS, the Event Site holding the Event continues to process its Special Event Permit as required by Chapter 52 of the City Code and the current Special Event allowance for the Event Site is expiring; and WHEREAS, due to the continued public interest, the Event wishes to continue in operation for the remainder of the year and as such requires the allowable waiver; and WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site requires permits to be issued by the City to ensure life -safety and quality of life issues and appropriate conditions may be imposed on each permit; and City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 18994 (Revision:) Printed On: 3/26/2026 File ID: 18994 Enactment Number: R-26-0130 WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site will be beneficial to the City's residents and visitors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Pursuant to Section 52-2 of the City Code, titled "Special Events in General; Duration and Limitations; City Commission Waiver," the limitation of no more than four (4) Special Events for seven (7) days each per calendar year is hereby waived pursuant to Section 52-2(i) of the City Code to allow "The Bloom Presents" Event to continue from March 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Section 3. This Resolution does not waive any other requirements of the City Code, including but not limited to, noise restrictions, applicable fees, inspections, and permits. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
