Subject: Allocate Funds - US HUD CPF - Little Haiti Youth Center - Athalie Range Park
Purpose of Item:
Authorizing the acceptance of Federal Community Project Funding (CPF) administered
by the Department of Housing and Urban Development as grant number B-24-CP-FL-
0665 in the total amount of $1,000,000.00 as stated herein for construction of a
recreational building at Athalie Range Park.
Background of Item:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development administers Community
Project Funds made available by Congress annually in a Consolidated Appropriations
Act. In 2024 Public Laws 118-42 and 118-47 designated $3,290,054,336 for Community
Project Funding. $1,000,000.00 of the CPF has been earmarked for the City of Miami
to construct the Little Haiti Youth Center at Athalie Range Park. The recreational
building is conceptually designed to be an ADA compliant 12,000 square feet gathering
place for local youth and residents. The facility will include a 3,000 square foot
computer lab, arts and crafts room and indoor fitness area with exercise equipment and
lockers providing the community a safe place to thrive. This resolution authorizes the
City manager to accept, budget, allocate and appropriate the CPF funds pursuant to an
agreement negotiated and executed by the City Manager in a form acceptable to the
City Attorney to construct the Little Haiti Youth Center at Athalie Range Park.
