AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SUBSECTIONS OP
Tftt MIAMI CITY EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM (OR-
DINANCE NO. 2236;'. DECEMBER 6, 1939, AS AMENDED)
AND THE MIAMI CITY GENERAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
PLAN (ORDINANCE NO. 5624, MAY 2, 1956, AS AMEN-
DED); AS APPEARING IN CODIFICATION FORM AS A PART.
OF CHAPTER 2 OP THECODE OF THE CITY OP MIAMI,.
FLORIDA,..i957, AS AMENDED, MORE PARTICULARLY AMEN-
DING SUBSECTIONS 2-91(2) AND 2-109(3a) OF SAID
CHAPTER 2 BY ADDING THE POSITIONS. OF ASSISTANT
CITY CLERK, ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF THE
CIVIL SERVICE BOARD AND ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE SEC-
RETARY OF, THE PLANNING BOARD, OR ITS PREDECESSOR
THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD TO THE POSITIONS
ALREADY ENUMERATED, TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL
RETIREMENT BENEFIT OF ONE PER CENT OF AVERAGE FINAL
COMPENSATION FOR EACH YEAR OF SERVICE OR FRACTION
THEREOF THAT SUCH MEMBER SERVES. AS. ASSISTANT;. CITY
CLERK, ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF THE CIVIL.
SERVICE BOARD AND ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
OF THE PLANNING BOARD OR ITS PREDECESSOR THE PLAN-
NING AND_ZONING BOARD, PROVIDING_ THAT UPON SER
VICE RETIREMENT THE MEMBER OF SAID RETIREMENT
SYSTEM OR RETIREMENT, PLAN HAS THREE OR MORE. YEARS
SERVICE SINCE LAST BECOMING A'MEMBER AND PROVID-
ING THAT HE HAS SERVED IN ANY OF SUCH CAPACITIES
FOR A TOTAL. COMBINED PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN THREE'
YEARS SUBJECT'THERETO TO A MAXIMUM LENGTH OF SER-
VICE, AMOUNTING TO TEN YEARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF_
COMPUTING ADDITIONAL PENSION ALLOWANCE; CONTAIN
ING A SEVERABILITY PROVISION AND REPEALING ALL,
ORDINANCES, CODE SECTIONS OR PARTS THEREOF IN CON-
FLICT, INSOFAR AS THEY ARE IN CONFLICT.
WHEREAS, the Miami City Employees' Retirement System
(Ordinance No. 2230, December 6, 1939) was not included as a por-
tion of the new Code of the City of Miami, Florida, effective
September 1, 1967, as adopted by Ordinance No. 7585 (July 25,
1967); and
WHEREAS, said System now exists in codified form as it
appears in Chapter'2 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida,
1957,
as amended, in a del it ion to basic o r d in once
fort, and

appear in raid chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Miami, Eiotida,
as amended; and
WHEREAn, it has been the continued policy of the City
of Miami to secure and retain eXperienced and able personnel for
executive positions in municipal government and
WHEREAS
the desire of the City of Miami to reY-
cognizethe faithful service of those in eXecutive. positions for
service and devotion to the city; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 8038 recognized certain specified
executive positions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami City Commission, desires to
recognize the additional executive positions of assistant city
clerk, assistant executive secretary of the Civil Service Board
and assistantexecutive secretary of the Planning Board or its
predecessor the Planning and Zoning Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:'
Section 1. The Miami City EmployeesRetirement System
(Ordinance No. 2230, December 6, 1939, as amended), as said ordin-
ance as amended appears in codified form as a part of Chapter 2
f the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is hereby
amended by adding specific executive positions to the list of
executive positions as found in Subsection 2 of. Section 2-91, which
shall provide as follows
Upon such retirement, if he has three or
more years service since last becoming a mem-
ber, he shall also receive a pension equal to one
percent of average final compensation for each
year of service or fraction thereof that such

Plan (Ordinance No. 5624, May 2,. 1956, as amended) , as said or-

are hereby repealed.
