REOULATIMNS OE THE CITY OF MIAMI RW REPEALING ROLE XI, SECTION 1, Alb. STITit TINE . THEREFOR A NEW SECTION 1 PROVIbING THAT EMPLOYEES SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT To AFFILIATE WITH ANY LABOR ORGANIC ZATIONt PURTiiER PROVIDING FOR RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES oP St?GH EMPLOYEE MEMBERS OP LABOR ORGANIZATIONS. WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board,.at its special meeting of August 13, 1974, proposed an amendment to Rule XI, Section 1 as set forth in Section 1 herein; and WHEREAS, the civil service Board, at its regular meeting of September 17, 1974, voted to adopt the change, in Rule XI as set forth in Section 1 herein; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this body to incorporate this provision in the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Miami; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF. THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 6945, passed and adopted by the City Commission of the City of Miami, Florida on November 15, 1961, being an Ordinance approving the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Miami, is hereby amended by repealing Section .1'of Rule Xi and substituting a new Section l as follows: Section l: Right of Employees to Affiliate with any Employee or Labor Organization in Accordance with the June 3, 1959 Act by the Legislature of the State of Florida: Classified city employees are assured the right and freedom of association, self - organization and the fight to join or to continue as Mernbete of any 'employee or labor okgahiZatioh CoMpiying With the abo'ttefehtiohed act i and shall haVe the fight to pketeht to the board proiosa1§ relative to the iulesaand Iegul"atiohs or other matters Whioh dale Under the jurisdiction of the board through repre sentatives of their oWn choosing. No such employee Shall be disehatgedj or discriminated against because of his exercise of such right, nor shall any person or group of persons, directly or indirectly, by intimidation or coercion, compel or attempt to compel any employee to join or refrain from joining an employee or a labor organization. Section 2. All ordinances, code sections or parts thereof in conflict are hereby repealed. Section 3. If any section, subsection, clause or provision of this amendment is held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such invalidity.
