WHEREAS, the bids were opened on August 28, 1975, and A. A. Coatings was the acceptable bidder, at a total cost of $5,800; and WHEREAS, the tennis court resurfacing is authorized and funded by the Parks for People Bond Program for Peacock and Kirk Munroe Parks; and WHEREAS, due to the long contract period and resulting public furor over non -completion of the Kirk Munroe tennis courts, the City Manager awarded the bid without the prior formal approval or acceptance of the City Commission so that the courts can be opened prior to Octo- ber 1, 1975; and "DOCUMENT JT\m X WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and RecIe tion recommends this action by the City Commission; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Ratification of City Manager's Action in Awarding 13it:1 No. 7y4`75.4 38 hrrt r..Nc s ENCLOSURES: The tennis courts at kirk Munroe Park have been under construction contract for some months now, and bids were recently advertised for resurfacing and color coating these courts and the courts at Peacock Park, This bid was received August 28, 1975, and the acceptable bidder was A. A. Coatings, in the amount of $5, 800. Due to the prolonged contract period and the resulting public furor over non -completion of the Kirk Munroe courts, the City Manager awarded the bid such that the courts could be completed with all possible haste and opened before October 1, 1975. It is now in order for the City Commission to ratify this action by the City Manager at the next appropriate City Commission Meeting.
