PUBLIC NOTICE PROPOSED TELEPHONE RATE INCREASE the City Commission of Mien% Florida,at its meeting held on September 4, 1975► adapted the following reso1utieni "WHEREAS, a telephone rate increase is being requested by the Southern Bell Telephone Company: and "WHEREAS, the Public Service Commission of the State of Florida is meeting shortly to consider said rate increases and "WHEREAS, much of the population of the City of Miami lives on fixed incomes; and "WHEREAS, such a rate increase as proposed► if granted, would create a financial hardship to many of those people within the City of Miami; and "WHEREAS, a rate increase, especially if unjustified, will contribute to the inflationary spiral; and "WHEREAS, it appears that Southern Bell telephone Corn- pony, ratherthan request a rate increase, might do well to decrease certain costs by eliminating certain unnecessary expenses; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: "Section 1. The Public Service Commission of the State of Florida is strongly urged to refuse to grant any increase in telephone rates to Southern Bell Telephone Company without justification. "Section 2. The Public Service Commissionas further urged to examine with extreme care all the evidence and testis many submitted to make certain' that any requested rate increase is justified and to further make certain that there are no other reasonable alternatives other than a rate in- crease."
