[)OCUllf.NT I 1DFX ITEM WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 90-351,as amended, the United States of America has authorized the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, through the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance, to make Federal Grants to assist local governments in the improvement of criminal justice; and WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department desires to continue an existing project designed to provide the Miami Police Depart- ment with information from community sources on the success of operating police programs, and requests LEAA assistance in the amount of $41,664.00 in addition to a request for the State for an amount of $2 604,00; and WHERE4S, the City of Miami has assured the availability of the local matching share of $7 812.00; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF SEP 4 1975 RESOLUTION NO.1(11" 79.8 NOW, THEREPORE, Et IT RESOLVED Ey THE OMISSION 'OP THE CITY OP MIAMI, ?LOEtDA t Section 1. The City Manager is hereby author iced and directed to submit a Federal Grant application to the Depart tent of Justice, taw Enforcement Administration* for $4i664.0O to continue an existing project deaigned to provide the Miami Police Department with information from community sources on the success of operating police programs. Section 2. That if such grant be made, the City of Miami shall provide or make necessary arrangements to provide such funds and/or in -kind contributions in addition to the grant as may be required by the Act to defray the cost of the project generally described above. Section 3. That the City of Miami is aware that at least fifty (50) percent of the minimum required non-federal cost of the project be appropriated cash and that such funds designated as local hard cash contributions in all related project budget schedules that are to be provided by the City of Miami are hereby allocated as new .Funds for Criminal Justice use for the express purpose of matching the LEAA funds. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Grant and execute contracts and agreements neces- sary to implement this Grant. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4TH day of SEPTEMBER , 1975.
